After graduating from the Ghana School of Law, the Law Society of Ghana will function as an alternative professional society for lawyers.
This would end the Ghana Bar Association's monopoly, which has existed since 1877 as the country's only professional association of attorneys.

Part of the certificate of incorporation signed by the registrar of businesses states, "Given under my hand and official seal at Accra, the 28th day of February 2022."
By 2020, there will be over 7,000 practicing lawyers, albeit not all of them will have registered with the Bar Association.
